1.     I just got a new computer and I can't seem to get Reg to work - what's wrong?
You probably have a new keymap. There are several different ways to access Reg, and these access methods often have different keymaps associated with them. See the next question…

2.     How can I tell which keymap I have?

·         Use PC IRIS Keymap if:

o       Your screen looks like this (note especially the icons and menu items circled):

·         Use the RDP Keymap if:

o       Your screen looks like this  (note especially the icons and menu items circled):

·         Use the DirectReg Keymap if your icon looks like this (text may be slightly different):

·         If you cannot identify your keymap, please contact the IT Service Desk at 543-7012 and tell them you need to speak with the Reg/ADT on call analyst about identifying your keymapping.

2.     What keys am I supposed to push?

·         RDP Keymap:

o        PF1 = F1 or numlock on numeric keypad

o        PF2 = / on numeric keypad

o        PF3 = F3 or * on numeric keypad

o        PF4 = F4 or - on numeric keypad

o        Use Alt in combination with any number at the top of the keyboard to navigate the menus.

o        Use the numeric keypad for numbers.

o        Use the enter key on the numeric keypad as the 'do' or 'select' key.

o        Use ctrl+p to tab backwards in a screen.

·         PC IRIS Keymap:

o       Must have numlock ON to work properly

o       PF1 = numlock on numeric keypad

o       PF2 = / on numeric keypad

o       PF3 = asterisk on numeric keypad

o       PF4 = ‘-‘ on numeric keypad

o       F11 = Shift + F1

o       F12 = Shift + F2, etc

o       Use the numeric keypad for numbers.

o       Use the enter key on the numeric keypad as the 'do' or 'select' key.

o       Use ctrl+p to tab backwards in a screen.

·         DirectReg Keymap:

o       PF1 = numlock on numeric keypad

o       PF2 = / on numeric keypad

o       PF3 = asterisk on numeric keypad

o       PF4 = ‘-‘ on numeric keypad

o       Use the numbers on the numeric keypad to navigate the menus.

o       Use the enter key on the numeric keypad as the 'do' or 'select' key.

o       Use ctrl+p to tab backwards in a screen.

4.     Why is the data in Epic and the data in Reg/ADT so different - why can't they just be in sync?
Epic and Reg/ADT have different data models – in other words, they are set up to look at the information differently. Where Epic is set up to look at as many coverages as you want, Reg/ADT is set up to have only 6 active coverages (Primary and Secondary for IP, OP, and Dental). You will also notice the data model differences when updating PTN, LNOK, and Guarantor information.

5.     Why does Reg/ADT always log me out?
Some Reg/ADT screens have a 30 minute timeout due to HIPAA Privacy rules. However, if you login through PC IRIS or another ‘tunnel’, you may be logged out by the ‘tunnelling’ application. We are further researching this issue, since many of you mentioned it.

6.     How can I get 'official' training in using Reg/ADT?
Harborview: Inpatient PSR's, MA's, and inpatient RN's can come to the Frontdesk Training classes that are offered once a month – contact Mardi Labguen at 206-744-9826 (remaining 2005 dates: 10/7/05, 11/18/05, 12/9/05)
UWMC: For IPSR training, contact Joe Lerner at 206-598-7372.
If you are aware of other training contacts, please let the Reg/ADT support team know by sending an email to mcsos@u.washington.edu for the Reg/ADT on call analyst.

7.     How do I know when to push Enter on the keyboard instead of Enter on the numeric keypad?
Generally, if you see either ‘Select(do)’ or ‘Select(Enter)’ on the menu at the bottom of the screen, it indicates you should use the key on the numeric keypad. Otherwise, use the Enter key on the keyboard.

8.     How can I see a pop-up list of information, such as beds, bill rates, units, etc.?
Type a period or slash into the field for which you’d like the information. If a popup is available, this will bring it up.

9.     How do I get to the help screens?
For help on the current screen, Press PF2 twice, then choose ‘WhatToDo’. To see the latest changes to Reg/ADT, press PF1 to see the next menu at the bottom of the screen, then select ‘7’, then option 3 for ‘ReleaseDoc’.

10. Why can't Reg/ADT just behave normally, like Windows?
Reg/ADT was designed around an Xterm terminal emulator window in a Unix environment, which is text-based. So, it’s not as ‘pretty’ as windows, and is not specifically mouse-enabled.

11. Who are you people, and what do you do?
The Reg/ADT Applications team works on the screens that you see when you use Reg, and how they function. We also create the reports, and make changes as requested by our customers (and sometimes by new federal regulations). We often field r
equests having to do with printing, access to Reg/ADT, and keymappings, but we do not have direct control over these issues so we may direct you to others in IT Services. We are proud to support those who work for the health and healing of our community. The team is: Chris D’Amore, Gary Forbis, Sharon Obrastoff, and Karen McOmber.
